Minister Grimm-Benne opens the Competence Centre Social Innovation Saxony-Anhalt

The Minister for Work, Social Affairs and Integration, Petra Grimm-Benne, sounds the starting signal today for the Competence Centre Social Innovation Saxony-Anhalt at the opening event in the Leopoldina in Halle.

“The changing labour market, new working practices, the challenge of ageing and social co-existence are particularly relevant in rural areas and need new ways of thinking and modified (social) practices and approaches. With the Competence Centre Social Innovation Saxony-Anhalt, we are therefore focusing on the link between technological innovations and socially effective impacts, in order to bring together initiatives with the purpose of development, preparation and perspective continued development of innovative ideas and practices.” (Grimme-Benne, 08.11.2017 in Halle (Saale))

Alongside impulse talks by Prof. Dr. Josef Hochgerner, founder of the Centre for Social Innovations in Vienna, and Dr. Ralf Kopp from the social research centre at Dortmund Technical University, state initiatives are also presented, which mainly focus on social innovations. The specific themes are age and health, social cohesion and migration, new forms in the world of work and education as well as career orientation.

The Competence Centre Social Innovation Saxony-Anhalt has the aim of uncovering, promoting and initiating new social innovations in the state. Awareness and the perception of this topic shall be sharpened and the corresponding framework conditions achieved.

The project is managed by the Centre for Social Research Halle e.V. at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg (ZSH). The project group also includes the Institute for Structural Policies and Business Development gGmbH (isw), the Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems IMWS and the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF. The Competence Centre is funded, as part of the operational programme of the EU funding period (European social funds) 2014-2020, by the European Union and by the state of Saxony-Anhalt through the Ministry for Work, Social Affairs and Integration. The funding volume totals 5 million Euros.
