Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems IMWSThe competencies in the field of Polymer Applications cover the entire value chain from analysis and design of the material microstructure to tailor-made components. We develop new materials and optimize existing polymer materials with respect to physical and mechanical properties, with a focus on thermoplastics that can be processed. We offer particular expertise in fiber-reinforced semi-finished products, application-specific technology development for thermoplastic-based lightweight structures, and the optimization of elastomer systems. All of this is supported by excellent capabilities for characterization as well as methods for process and structure simulations.
