The Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems IMWS in Halle (Saale) is, like society as a whole, affected by the effects of the COVID-19 epidemic. Extensive protective measures were taken at the institute at an early stage in order to prevent the spread of the Corona virus and to protect the health of the workforce as a top priority. The measures taken so far make it possible to maintain the project work with some restrictions.
The contact persons for our clients will remain available – regardless of whether they are currently working on the mobile side or working under the safety precautions taken in the laboratories and offices. Even under difficult conditions we see it as our responsibility to provide our customers with our services within the framework of regulatory requirements. Many of them, including companies from sectors that are currently particularly important, such as medical technology and energy supply, are also trying to continue their activities in order to avoid the complete collapse of supply and value creation in Germany in this crisis. As long as this is possible without an unsustainable risk to society and our employees, we want to continue to make a contribution and have appropriately prioritised our current projects.
In doing so, we adhere to the guidelines at the municipal, state and federal level as well as the guidelines of the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft. In addition, we took further measures for Fraunhofer IMWS.
Customers and guests of the institute, please note until further notice:
Project work: Your contact persons can still be reached by phone and e-mail. In addition, we have created new possibilities for telephone and video conferencing. Please note that the COVID-19 impact may cause delays in project work, including mail/sample/package shipments to and from the institute. Our employees' business trips are largely discontinued. Instead, we use digital opportunities to exchange with external partners.
Visits to the institute: To support »social distancing«, visits to Fraunhofer IMWS are only possible in absolutely necessary cases, for example for logistics service providers or non-deferred maintenance work. When you enter one of our buildings, you will be asked at the reception to complete a questionnaire confirming that you have had no symptoms and no contact with COVID-19 infected persons. You also store your contact details so that the contact chain can be tracked in an emergency. In all buildings you will find disinfectants in the entrance area as well as information on the hygiene measures taken at Fraunhofer IMWS.
Events: Until further notice, no events will be held at Fraunhofer IMWS. As soon as catch-up dates for postponed events have been determined, we will inform the registered/interested persons.
We will keep you updated on the situation here.
